Once again Vancouver rates high as a great place to live. The Mercer Quality of Living Survey rated Vancouver as the 5th most liveable city out of 221 cities in the world. This makes it the top rated city in Canada, followed by Ottawa (14), Toronto (15) and Montreal (23). Vienna, Zurich, Auckland and Munich took the top four spots. The only city in the US that ranked in the top 30 was Honolulu (28).
The survey which is completed yearly takes into account safety, infrastructure ("based on electricity supply, water availability, telephone and mail services, public transportation, traffic congestion and the range of international flights from local airports"), culture, and economy.
Those of us who live here know what a great city it is. It is great to see we are being recognized internationally for those qualities too. For the full list of ratings visit the Mercer website here.
