Giving at Christmas

Once again as Christmas nears we are strongly reminded of how lucky we are for everything we have.  I look around me and I have so much.  Some of us have time to give, some would prefer to make cash donations.  It doesn't matter, what does matter is that we help in whatever way we can.

The Salvation Army is well recognized for the Christmas Kettles which are manned by many volunteers in locations all over the city. Funds collected help families all year long.

Toys For Kids is another Salvation Army event sponsored by CTV.

The Christmas Hamper Fund is run by Family Services of Greater Vancouver and makes it possible to get food and clothing vouchers to families who are struggling.

The Christmas Bureau helping families and people of all ages.

The Food Bank helps families all year long with an extra demand for volunteers and donations during the holiday season. The 12 Bands of Christmas is an event put on by the Fairmont Pacific Rim and the Food Bank is is worth checking out!

Covenant House offers help to homeless youth so they can get back on their feet.

Presents of Peace is organized by the YWCA.  You can sponser a family who will give you a 'wish list' of items and then deliver it to them yourself.  A great way to get the whole family involved.

Realtors Care Blanket Drive helping to keep people warm in the lower mainland.

These are just a few ways you can help at Christmas.  For all year long volunteer positions have a look at Vancouver Volunteering Opportunities.
